See, I told you guys it isn’t as easy as you think! I’ve already had a week’s delay between days two and three! OK, in actuality, I’ve been dealing with some random health issues, because that is what I do best. And so therefore, I didn’t feel like writing much. But now I’m back! So let’s talk about Day 3.
Day 3’s theme is “A song that reminds you of summertime.”
I know there could be a million choices out there. I kept thinking of Will Smith’s “Summertime,” a.) because that literally is the theme and b.) he’s constantly on my social media feeds. But a different random one just popped into my head.
Yup, that’s “Cotton-Eyed Joe” by Rednex from back in the mid-1990s.
How on earth does this make me think of summertime?
Well, it was a very popular song that was played at every dance, on every radio station, and no matter how much you loved it or hated it, you had to blast it. Even more fun was a friend of mine had a convertible. We loved driving around all over with the top down, blasting this song and singing as loud as we could. Hey, this is what you do when you’re 17, right? And we did it all summer. Then we would usually end up having a swimming party in my pool.
Every time I hear that song, I think of that and the other fun that we had back in those late high school/early college years.
What are some songs that remind you of summer?
Listen to “Cotton-Eyed Joe” as part of the Rednex album “Sex & Violins” on Amazon.
